Hero Armor, a Ukrainian sculpture dedicated to fallen defenders, will be on display at Burning Man 2026
LIGA.life reports that the Ukrainian art project Hero Armor will take part in Burning Man 2026 in the United States. It attributes the announcement to the project team via UP.Culture and notes that the English version is a machine translation of a Ukrainian original.
According to the article, the sculpture is dedicated to Ukraine's defenders and to the strength and support of those who continue their cause. The authors also see it as showing how support can turn a personal story into a collective initiative. The idea came from founder "Lisa" Kormilets, who in 2025 left a photograph of her cousin, 3D artist Zakhar Zakharov, who volunteered after the full-scale invasion began and did not return, at the festival's Temple, beside his pre-war digital image of a futuristic warrior.
After she came back, her friend Marcel proposed 3D-printing parts of the sculpture, and her father and brother later joined. LIGA describes the figure as a futuristic guardian in blue and yellow, to be shown under the festival theme "Axis Mundi". Hero Armor is described as independent, created by a team from Ukraine, the Netherlands and the United States, and as partnering with the Unbroken rehabilitation center in Lviv to support war-affected people.
