Hero Armor — Ukrainian Art Installation
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026 (25 to 27 September) lists Hero Armor as an exhibit in its Art & Design category, marked as a ribbon recipient. This is the project's own exhibitor entry, not an independent news article.
The entry describes a 2.2-meter-tall Ukrainian memorial installation dedicated to courage, memory and the resilience of Ukrainian defenders. It says architect and interior designer Liza Kormilets created it in memory of her cousin, 3D artist Zakhar Zakharov, who volunteered to defend Ukraine and never came back. The sculpture is based on a 3D character that Zakhar made in 2019.
The text says the work was developed across Ukraine, the Netherlands and the United States and built in the San Francisco Bay Area by an international team of specialists and volunteers. Inside the 3D-printed shell sit a custom steel frame on a modular platform, programmable lighting, sound and an ESP32-based control system. The entry states that Hero Armor debuted at Burning Man 2026 near the Temple and was afterwards restored and shown at the Reno Tahoe International Art Show. Its stated message is "They chose courage. We carry the memory." The page shows no date for the entry itself.
